Thank you to Pope Benedict for his hope, humility, confidence, intellectualism, peace, and representation of our Lord, Jesus Christ this last week in the United States.  These are his words:

"Dear Friends, truth is not an imposition.  Nor is it simply a set of rules.  It is a discovery of the One who never fails us; the One whom we can always trust.  In seeking truth we come to live by belief because ultimately truth is a person:  Jesus Christ.  That is why authentic freedom is not an opting out.  It is an opting in; nothing less than letting go of self and allowing oneself to be drawn into Christ's very being for others."

"Do you leave space to hear God's whisper, calling you forth into goodness?  Friends, do not be afraid of silence or stillness, listen to God, adore Him in the Eucharist.  Let His word shape your journey as an unfolding of holiness."

What a very powerful and moving quote! I didn't get to see or read much about his visit except for the snippets from EWTN radio and some tv news. What speach was that from, I would like to be able to read the whole thing.

Great Post!

Click on the EWTN link at the bottom of my post for all the speeches. It was the speech given to seminarians and the youth.

Yes, "leave space to hear God's whisper." I forget how important that is. I think Benedict will also be a "great" someday. He is so wise, yet simple.

Thanks for the link to his speeches. I be checking on that for more.
